3 out of 5 stars Decent Sound, Poor Durability   October 2, 2008
I bought these headphones as a replacement of my iPod earbuds. What attracted me was the cheap price, and once I had opened them, their easy storage; the headphones have three hinges, one at the top and one for each ear, that lets them fold up and thus fit with ease into my trenchcoat pocket.

The sound of these headphones is good for the price. However, a lot of the sound blasts outward and so if the volume is too high, everyone else knows what you are listening to, but in crowded areas it is no concern. Nothing in particular stands out about the sound quality, good or bad; the sound is clear and nothing is over or underemphasized.

However, the headphone design is not particularly durable. I tend to shove my headphones into a pocket while in class so I don't have to worry about them. Since these headphones fold up, one would think this wouldn't be a problem. Instead, the right phone comes loose from the base. Seeing as the phones are screwed in, and the screw comes off WITH the earphone, I honestly have no idea how this happens. My only guess is that the plastic is too flexible/loose and so the screw is able to slip out and no longer secures the headphones in place.

Perhaps this would be fine if it only happened once in a while; however, I regularly have to pull out my mini screwdriver set to delicately screw the headphones back together. No matter how tight I make it, without fail, the right ear eventually comes loose from the base again. As this happens, I can see the wear around the screw hole, and I'm certain the plastic will break altogether eventually.

The sound quality isn't affected, and I can even temporarily shove the headphones back together without breaking the structure and have it stay secure on my head for a time; however, it is an annoyance that makes the storange convenience of the headphones seem pointless. Why store them when they will fall apart?

Hence, while I may recommend the headphones for having decent sound quality for the price, I would not recommend them for their design; it is flimsy and offsets the convenience of being able to store these headphones in tight locations.

Thank you for reading my review, and I hope it was helpful.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent inexpensive headphones   June 23, 2008
I've had these headphones for about two years after my utter failure to wear earbuds. I am pretty hard on headphones, wanting to cram them into my bag, so the foldable set is ideal. This Phillips pair has a great sound at a very low price, fits comfortably (even over my glasses), and stands up to abuse in purses, gym bags, etc.

I recently began having the problem mentioned in other reviews, namely the output in one ear is going for no apparently reason. However, considering the price and the fact that I'd have crushed other portable headphones by now, I'm ordering another pair anyway. Hooray Phillips!

5 out of 5 stars Better than earbuds.   April 15, 2008
These headphones produce quality stereo sound while being durable and easy to wear. These take the place of those rotten earbuds that refuse to fit my small ears.

3 out of 5 stars Overall sound good for the price.   March 21, 2008
For around ten bucks, these headphones sound good, are probably better than the cheap low-quality ear buds that came with your MP3 player or phone, and are a good value. However, if you truly want much 'higher end' sound that will enable you to hear every nuance and detail in your music (with much improved bass), and that will 'knock your socks off', check out slightly more expensive quality models like the 'AKG K26P' or 'AKG K27i' or the 'Sennheiser PX-100' or 'PX-100W' cans (headphones). You won't believe how great music can sound on your portable player spending just 30 to 50 bucks on better 'cans'!

5 out of 5 stars Phillips HL-150 headsets   December 21, 2007
These headsets are comfortable and sound good. They appear to be more rugged that the other headsets I've owned, as those have had tiny cables that break very easily. These use heavier cables, I'm very satisfied with them.
