Perfect!!October 25, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Its just amazingly perfect for playing at home!!
It includes everything. And I mean everything that you might need. Its not even mentioned in the product description that a headset is also included! Which is totally what I needed as I play it for hours and hours and I should not be disturbing others. Amp is cool, its loud enough for home use. It has Bass and Treble effects as well which is very cool. A guitar stand is also included which makes it easy to keep the guitar when not in use.
About the guitar itself, it needed a bit of tuning when I took it out of the box, but that was again very easy with the chromatic tuner provided. After that tuning its just been sounding inch perfect!
Everyone around me is in love with this guitar. Trust me it won't let you down. A fender is always a good choice! Specially if it comes with all the accessories for a really great price!
About amazon, very fast service, cheers!! I paid for standard shipping only. And I got in something like 60 hours!
Great guitar for the priceOctober 20, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I recently got this Starcaster Strat pack and am impressed with the quality of the instrument given the price. There's a ton of cheap beginner guitar packs available now, and I've tried several of them in stores and eventually settled on the Starcaster as the best value. None of the cheaper models had the same quality of hardware, the same playability or sounded near as good. Mine came well setup out of the box with only some tuning required. The intonation on mine was even setup correctly. It isn't up to the quality of a real Stratocaster, but it really isn't too far off the quality of a Fender Squire strat. The amp that comes with it is fine for starting out, but it is pretty underpowered, and most players would soon want to step up. That's really the only complaint, and in a starter electric guitar pack, an underpowered little amp is par for the course. The five stars I'm giving it here is relative to other instruments in this price range, and at that standard I don't think you can do better than this.
Great service from Amazon, but...October 20, 2008 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I've never felt compelled to submit a review for any of my Amazon purchases, but this expereince with Fender warranted some comments.
I ordered this guitar package from Amazon and received it in 3 days even with super-saver shipping. Great service from Amazon.
I opened the kit and was prepping to plug it in and try it out when I realized there was no guitar cable included - pretty useless without a cable. I contacted Fender and they mailed a cable at no charge, but it took them a week (7 days) to do it. Once I was able to actually test the guitar, there was no Volume control knob, only three Tone control knobs. Obviously the top control was for the volume and it had the wrong knob assembled to it. I also realized there were no "setup/adjustment sheet" included. I contacted fender about these additional errors and they said they'd send them. I received the paperwork with no Volume knob. At that point, I cut my loses (and headaches) and I returned the package for Fender to deal with as there were simply to many quality control issues with the package I received, and the Fender rep seemed rather "slack" about the whole deal, calling it a "simple error" and didn't consider it "poor" quality.
The guitar and amp themselves seemed okay (I guess), but I received the impression that Fender has some quality control/assurance issues that they're not real concerned about addressing, which lead me to wonder what else may be wrong.
Great price, shipping and return policy for Amazon, poor quality control and slacker attitude from Fender.
Good guitar for the money!October 4, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I picked this pack up about 6 months ago. For the price, this is a great pick.
Out of the box, it sounds pretty bad. You may have to raise the string action (the height of the strings) if you get buzzing against the frets. Let the strings break in first though. Speaking of strings, the ones that come with it are pretty bad. Get some slightly heavier ones, GHS strings are cheap.
Use the digital tuner that comes with the guitar to set the intonation. Out of the box, mine got sharper and sharper as you work your way up the neck, making every chord out of tune, even if the open strings were in tune. If you run out of room and the intonation is still sharp, you may have to shim the saddle on the neck to make the string an even height. I did that on my large E string by cutting off a 1/4 inch section of an old G string and sliding it under the E in the saddle.
With a little setup, this guitar plays like a champ on the cheap!
