I was skeptical that this thing would work, but it works perfectly. It is heavy and also has an almost "sticky," rough bottom which helps keep it from sliding or shifting. I drive a Honda Accord which has a slightly angled dash, and it doesn't move, including during sharp turns. Even when you press the buttons on your GPS with force, this mount does not slide backward.
This is a much better option that the suction cup mount...it's more out of the way than the suction cup mount, leaves no suction cup marks on the windshield, and is easier to grab and put into the trunk when you park. Buy it, it's worth it!

Our one disappointment was with the mount included with our Garmin Nuvi. We didn't care to leave it affixed to the windshield because of it's tell tale 'I have a GPS inside - steal me!' This little gadget solves all the problems. Just rest it on your dash - connect the cord into the cigarette lighter - and you're good to go. It stays put. I would highly recommend this product. And it's much cheaper here on Amazon than I found it online elsewhere.

Works as advertised. Will handle most any dashboard configuration. Seems to be really solid except for extremely "violent" vehicle movements. Easy to take off the dash and stick out of sight when parked. I use it with a NUVI 250. Bought one for my wife a week later - also for a NUVI 250.

have enjoyed the portable mount. purchased primarily with the concept of preventing thieves from detecting "the ring" on the windshield that the traditional mounts leave. was leary of how stable this would be and thought it might slide with driving, ie taking corners, however it stays put. liked the fact that nothing had to be permanently affixed to the dash and it able to be used in more than one vehicle. item fits under most car seats for storage as it would be big and a little heavy to put into a purse while shopping. connections were simple and price was great and a tremendous savings vs what they are in most box stores. worth the investment after what you spend on those gps's you want it to be secure when in use and help keep it out of the wrong hands when it is not. definitely would highly recommend.
