Nice portable DVD player for both home and autoNovember 30, 2008 so far i've found this to be a nice player. i use it for my kids both at home on a 42" 1080p HDTV as well as for during trips in the car. video quality seems fine, even on my HDTV, while the screen seems to be sufficiently big for both my kids to watch it together in the car.

I must totally disagree with any of the positive reviews of this product. I almost never write reviews, but this product was so awful that I am compelled to write a review. I purchased the product having read the reviews and knowing the it was a cheapy with bad speakers. But somehow "cheapy with bad speakers" doesn't start to describe the terrible quality of this product. The DVD player only lasted for one week of light use before dying. Good riddance. Amazon is of course great about returns, but who wants go bother with returns? Do yourself a favor - DO NOT BUY.
excellent, kid-tested dvd playerNovember 22, 2008 After over two years this Coby player finally stopped working - it won't recognize the discs...but I have to say that about 2 years of frequent use and getting banged around in travel make me recommend this product. Good features for two kids to share, too. A very good product.
BAD BAD BADOctober 10, 2008 We were only able to use it 5 times and then the screen wnt black!!!
Please buy a better one, do not waste your money.
Stop functioning after 2 monthsOctober 1, 2008 It worked for 3 months with no issue. But after this, now I am able to run it. It always says 'No Disc'. So the discs that were running properly earlier are not running now. I tried with multiple brand new DVDs also. If I place DVD, and before closing its shutter if I manually rotate DVD, and immediately close its shutter, then sometimes it runs DVD, but again after 2-3 mins, it stops showing the picture. I am higly frustrated with this DVD player.

The 5.1 channel home-theater-in-a-box system features five tiny speakers - each about the size of a golf ball. The system, matched with a compact, single disc DVD/CD player/receiver, includes a unique subwoofer that helps the tiny speakers create sounds typically reserved for full size speakers.
While the system features small speakers, it packs all the power of conventional home theater-in-a-box systems with 450 watts of total system power (satellite speakers 50W x 5, plus 2-way subwoofer 100W x 2).
