Amazon.com Product Description The new JVC BR-DV3000U(B) Professional DV Recorder is a simple, no-frills recorder and player with a compact and stylish design that can be installed either horizontally or vertically. This unit is based on the popular BR-DV3000U player but with the addition of an Advanced Digital Error Correction system for virtually no-dropout playback of tapes recorded on various brands and models of DV equipment. It also includes Closed Caption (CC) recording and playback support for government and educational applications.
The JVC BR-DV3000U(B) allows you to switch between NTSC or PAL as required, so it is easy to work with internationally sourced material and transfer it to a non-linear system for editing. You can also record to Standard or Mini DV tape in either NTSC or PAL formats, though this DV recorder cannot be used as an NTSC/PAL converter. DVCAM recordings can also be played back directly on the BR-DV3000U(B), making it easy to use DVCAM recordings as source material for editing. This unit includes a built-in time code generator that provides preset (rec run) and regene time codes, which in combination with the 20x search function (100x max in the FF or REW mode) provides super-fast access to any target point on the tape with visible pictures. The BR-DV3000U(B) features an indicator light showing when audio signals are input as a convenient way of checking for the presence of audio signals during tape playback, as well as a continuous recording function that will start recording five minutes before the tape in a camcorder (connected via the DV connector) ends, which enables continuous shooting for extended periods with no breaks in the recording. This system also features repeat playback, so when the video signal ends or tape ends, playback starts again from the beginning of the recorded video or tape.
Unlike its predecessor, this DV recorder has a new tape mechanism that is compatible with either vertical or horizontal operation, making it easy to install this compact unit in a narrow space or close to a non-linear system. Systematic, easy-to-understand menu screens simplify setting and operation procedures, while a remote connector lets you connect the optional RM-G30 controller to run the entire system from a distance. The BR-DV3000U(B) is equipped with an industry standard DV (IEEE1394 or Firewire) connection that allows recordings to be transferred to and from a wide variety of other digital systems, including popular non-linear editing systems. Dubbing can be performed with another DV deck or camcorder with no loss in audio or video fidelity. In addition to DV input/output, the BR-DV3000U(B) is equipped with a Y/C (S-video) input/output and composite (RCA) input/output, as well as an industry-standard RS-422 interface that allows for connection to a wide range of external components. There is also a wireless remote control that provides control over field advance, frame advance, menu display, audio reference-level selection, color bar display and blank search, as well as basic operations.
JVC's BR-DV3000U(B) is built with a heavy-duty, full-size mini-DV multi-motor mechanism for fast and reliable NLE spooling and editing, and includes locked audio, continuous backup recording, and variable noiseless slow motion at plus or minus 33-percent. This unit also allows audio dubbing via a microphone connector, contact closure recording, variable speed search, time-code reading and generation, and 7.5 IRE setup (on/off). This DV recorder runs on 12-volts of electricity via the included AC adapter, has a horizontal resolution of 500 lines or more, weighs approximately 5.5 pounds, and measures 6.875 x 2.6875 x 10.25 inches (W x H x D). Compatible with standard mini-DV tapes, this unit allows up to 276 minutes of record and play time.

Customer Reviews:
A great deck and a great valueMay 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Considering how expensive professional equipment can be over the same thing for consumers, this deck is VERY well priced. I have had mine for over a year. It is quiet. Reliable. Very fast rewind and fastforward. I sometimes get DVCAM tape in PAL format and it is an easy flick of the switch to capture PAL onto my computer from it. Then switch back to ntsc for the next. The ability to use MiniDV and full size DVCAM tape in the same deck is a big plus too. With the foot for using it on it's side, it takes up very little desk space too. I highly recommend this deck to pro-am and professional video editors.
