Great Blu-ray playerDecember 3, 2008 I have noticed some complaints about audio drops, slow loading, running hot and failure to play Blu-ray / DVD disc. I have not experienced any of these problems and have played both types of disc for a month and am very satisfied with both the audio and vidio quality of the Samsung 1500. This really a great product!
niceDecember 3, 2008 great picture quality has a HDMI port which i found very useful. looks very sleek and professional. i would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonable priced bluray player.
decent little playerDecember 3, 2008 This is a decent player. Prefer to use my ps3 but when I bought this for my father he loved it.
Stay away, horrible quality control.....December 2, 2008 I've never written a Amazon review yet but had to write about my disappointment with this player. Worked fine for a month, then started having intermittent problems with playing standard discs (not recognizing them). Then playing blurays became a problem, with it freezing and skipping frames. Obviously, I tried different standard DVDs and wells several different blurays. Within 2 weeks, now it doesn't recognize ANY standard discs and still has problems with Blurays.
It's time so stop stallingDecember 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ok, I'm not the most knowledgable person out there on these things, but I like to think that I am. I can't vouch for high end Blu Ray players that cost the mortgage of my house but I could tell you one thing, if you haven't taken the step into the world of high def yet then it sure is the time.
Stop being scared, this isn't a fad, it's not going to pass. You need to get into the now and this is a good way to start. Well, a HD T.V would be where to start but that's a totally different review. Let's talk Blu Ray..
Since the PS3 was launched I've had a Blu Ray player and it is something else. But I couldn't trek the PS3 back and forth to the bedroom from the living room if we wanted to watch a Blu Ray movie in bed. So we went around and picked up this gem and I couldn't have been more happier. You hear people talking about how big of a deal it is to be able to see the individual strands of hair and beads of sweat on someone in a Blu Ray movie but you're probably like naaaaaaah who needs that...
Ha, you do my friend, trust me.
I have this player connected to the Samsung LN40A550 40" LCD in my bedroom and haven't had a good nights sleep since. Also added a mini fridge to the room and cut a hole in the wall for easier access to the bathroom... Ok, so I didn't cut a hole in the wall, but I bought a bedpan. Anyways, the combination of the two is amazing and works like a dream. Still floors me when I turn on the Blu Ray and the t.v knows it's on and switches to the input for it. Technology, lemme tell ya. The picture you get with an HDMI cable connected is so vivid and sharp you'll constantly find yourself wondering how in the world did you ever watch a movie without it looking anything like this. And don't think the magic is only with Blu Rays, because if you popped in a regular DVD let's say anything from Pixar, you'll notice a very, very impressive change from the upconversion that the player can do.
Now, with it being in the bedroom I don't have it connected to any major sound system (had to have a reason to make me sit in the living room,) so I couldn't tell you anything about that. But, I can say that compared to my PS3 it is a bit slower starting up when turned on, maybe that pesky cell processor has something to do with it.
Other than that I really have nothing bad to say about this player and like I mentioned before, unless you got your nose held high and need the most expensive thing out there to satisfy your ego, this player right here is the best investment that you could make to ensure that you see for yourself first hand what true HD is all about.
And when you do get it I want you to honestly tell me that counting the beads of sweat on someone's head in a blu ray movie is not the greatest thing since sliced bread.
