WARNING: Reading Level Ages 9 - 12December 12, 2008 i "searched inside" the book, and liked what i saw. then, when i saw the first reader's comment about how she read the book to a 3.5-year-old, i sampled other reviews, then bought the book for my 5-year-old grandson.
i would *never* read it to him now lest it give him bad dreams. but i learned my lesson: always check the age recommendations, for this book 9 - 12 years old.
for that age and above, it's a terrific book--clever drawings, well-paced story, and full engagement of the imagination of children and adults.
Funny with Great IllustrationsNovember 29, 2008 Good Night Lullabies My two grandsons, ages 4 and 6, liked this book a lot. It appealed to their imaginations and the illustrations were excellent. The story loses a bit of momentun at the end, and lost the kid's interest a bit. But, overall, a fun book.

I purchased a newer version of my childhood favorite book and found that it is not the same book. Alas, someone decided it needed to be edited to make it more PC and to add some other changes that really make no sense at all. If you're a die-hard fan of the book from your childhood, be sure to get an older used copy!
Great BookNovember 10, 2008 I loved this book when I was little, and I bought it for my son. This is one of his favorite books now too. It's really a fun story.
ImagineNovember 10, 2008 I have been given many opportunities to read this book to children and each time I am able to hear the laugh of a child and see a smile on their face. A child's imagination is the most amazing thing. This book allows children's imaginations to be at work as they see the detailed images and hear the words. When doing my student teaching I read this story to my class and asked them to draw a picture of unusual weather they would like to encounter. The images were absolutely outstanding, but what was even more exciting was being able to witness children's imaginations at work.
