Amazon.com Product Description The iHome iH7B Dual Alarm Clock and Radio for iPods (Black) is the perfect alarm clock and radio for iPod owners. This stylish clock radio not only allows you to listen to your favorite iPod music through a home stereo system, but lets you wake up gradually and go to sleep gently to the sounds of your favorite tunes, AM/FM radio, or a buzzer.
The iHome iH7B lets you listen to your music while charging your iPod by docking it in the alarm clock station, which features a sleek, low-profile design that can easily fit anywhere in your room. This unit wakes you up to your choice of gently increasing music, radio, or a buzzer sound, and features an alarm reset function that shuts off the alarm while automatically resetting it for the same time the following day. As additional backup, there is a dual alarm for days you like to sleep in a little longer, and a function whereby even if the alarm is set to music, if none is detected from your iPod the alarm will automatically trip the buzzer so you are sure to wake up on time. The sleep timer function is programmable for a 90, 60, 30, or 15-minute countdown, works with iPod music as well as your AM/FM radio, and even features an adjustable sleep volume that lets you select a comfortable sleep volume level without affecting the wake-to or listening volume levels.
The iHome iH7B has a built-in, extra-large backlit LCD display for navigating through radio stations, displaying your iPod's current song information, or just giving you the time in either 12 or 24-hour mode. This unit has built-in, automatic frequency control (AFC) for enhanced FM reception, an external AM antenna for best-possible AM reception, and PLL (phase locked loop) digital radio tuning. The iH7B's clock has time and date preset at the factory, allows you to adjust the preset time to any of seven different time zones at the touch of a button, and includes a DST switch for a quick daylight-savings time adjustment. Even though the alarm and time settings easy to adjust, this unit features a sure-alarm battery backup (battery included) that maintains your clock settings, and ensures your alarm will still work in case of a power outage. As if that wasn't convenient enough, this iHome clock radio comes with a remote control (battery included) that lets you control all its major functions from a convenient distance.
The iHome iH7B uses high-fidelity stereo speakers in specially designed, isolated speaker chambers to deliver astounding clarity, depth and power, on top of which this system comes with an extra extension speaker for expanded stereo sound that really rocks in your bedroom, or any other room in the house. This unit includes an auxiliary line-in jack with a patch cord for hooking up other MP3 players or audio devices, is powered by the included AC power adapter, and is able to charge both your iPod and your iPod shuffle simultaneously thanks to its unique docking insert. In addition to the dual iPod and iPod shuffle charging insert, this iHome clock radio includes adjustable inserts that let it work with all dockable iPod models, from the video to the Nano. The iH7B comes in a sleek, contemporary black finish that matches your iPod as well as your home decor, measures roughly 10 x 3 x 6 inches (W x H x D), and is backed by a manufacturer's limited 90-day warranty.
What's in the Box iHome iH7B dual alarm clock for iPods, a remote control, inserts to fit all dockable iPod models, a patch cord for auxiliary input, an AC power adapter, two CR032 batteries for the remote control and battery backup, and a user's manual.
Product Description This stylish clock radio wakes you gradually and lulls you to sleep with your iPod music or AM/FM radio or buzzer. Dual alarm for days you prefer to sleep a little longer. Use the extension speaker for expanded stereo sound to really rock in your bedroom or any other part of your house.
Nothing lasts forever...September 22, 2008 Didn't have it for too long before the charging dock gig decided to take a crap. We took quite good care of it too, handled the thing with kid gloves so to speak. If you are into loud music, don't do it. If you like it mellow, I guess. I remain unimpressed.
Beware: Not compatible with 3rd gen 10/15/20 GB iPodsDecember 12, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was bought for me as a gift (not from amazon, though, but Apple). However, advertising both here and on Apple's website claim that this product is compatible with the 3rd generation iPod (not talking about the iPod nano, but the 10/15/20GB one that came out in 2003).
It isn't. Calls to iHome's customer service department only confirmed this. In fact, I was told that the only iHome product that is compatible with the 3rd gen iPod is the iH5 alarm clock radio.
Otherwise, it's a fine system and I thought the sound was pretty good.
Almost but not quiteAugust 18, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
good controls, dual alarm feature is nice, excellent reception even though I live in a rural area. I purchaased the three speaker model as reports indicated this would improve sound quality. The third speaker merely cancels one of the two internal speakers and allows you to get more phsyical separation between the left and right channels. The sound quality of the speakers is unacceptable, tinny, poor range, sounds like a cheap tabletop radio. The good news is you can connect external speakers, I purchased a set of Kipsch 2.1 and the sound and feautres are now excellend. Of course that adds another 150.00 to get an adequate device. If the speakers were improved, it would definitelg earn five stars.
AMAZING!May 19, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is the best thing ever. looks cool, awesome sound, handy remote, and just plain awesome. Personally, i dont think the display is too bright. theres a button that controls the display light ranging anywhere from lighting up a country, or no light at all, and everything in between. Basically, its amazing!
ALL-PURPOSE iPOD PLAYBACK UNITMay 12, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We already had been using the iH5 which was the first iHome iPod/AM-FM/alarm clock unit. Gave that to our son for use at school and upgraded to the iH7B. (Why is the iH7 only available in black as opposed to the other iHs which come in B or W?) This unit has presets for the radio and a dual alarm clock. MOST IMPORTANT, the separate speaker allows one to truly sense stereo which is not the case with the iH5 or iH6 - well woth the extra $$. Separate AM antenna makes for good reception. FM antenna is a long wire which requires careful placement to keep if away from interference from adjacent AC power line. As will all iHomes, it has built in iPod charger with inserts to accomodate various iPod models. Also has a second charging 'slot' - but this only works with the Shuffle - ideally this would be a full-service charger. Also has a line-input to allow one to connect a CD player (remember those?) or a non-iPod MP3 player.
