NICE SYSTEM BUT TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICESeptember 24, 2008 If you are looking for a nice little system consider this one. I had a stereo system, that was hooked up to my desk top computer, die so needed something to play music. I found these in K-Mart for $20 (close out item) so tried them out in the store. They have a nice sound for the money. I played around with the base and equalizer, on my computer, and found an acceptable sound. They are not over bearing but the music is fine. The only complaint is, once again, the crappy, short remote. It is not the nice one depicted on the box or in the instruction booklet. I tried to contact COBY via e-mail and on the phone. They will not respond. I even told them that I would return it, to the store, if they wouldn't replace the remote with the more elaborate one. Still no response. They do not care so don't bother to call them. Other than that, it is a really nice sounding system. For a little bit of money, you can't go wrong.

Got the Coby system to replace my crappy built in ibook speakers on my laptop. Does the job better I would say for sure but, I hear a little crackling when the volume is in medium range, not too loud, but really not often, I wouldn't say it's a problem. So they're really cheap and the sound is just ok, don't expect an "experience" when buying these. I highly suggest these if you aren't too picky about sound and you need basic and easy to use speakers for ipod/mp3 player/pc and nothing else. And these speakers can't really project loud sounds too well like gunfire, but they do pretty well in projecting everything else. And if you're buying these for the volume control unit for "easy access" don't bother, it's pretty much useless. Over all, if you want easy to use speakers with decent sound in music for ipods or mp3 players or even pc's and you want them at a cheap price then get these.
Great speakersSeptember 1, 2008 I bought these for my grandson so he could listen to his music and not get in trouble for not hearing his parents call him! He loves them. Says the sound is great and he hasn't gotten in trouble lately. Comes with the required cable.
Love at first siteAugust 10, 2008 Now, i did my research on sound systems. Looked from item to item until i found this one, and ever after this one I still did some looking. I was torn between two different systems, but got this one because I liked the look better. It looks great out of the box by the way. This item is great. The bass is easy to control and booming, as is the volume. This seemingly small system can create a sound that will darn near blast your ears off, it is surprising the volume that comes out of it.
The cons: The only thing that I don't like is the volume adjustment cable. Its a small cable that plugs to the back of the center subwoofer, and then connects to a headphone jack, such as my Zune. However, the cable from the system to the actual volume control is about 3 feet long, if that, which is very disappointing. I have it set up by my bed and I fear that I may be causing stress to it by just adjusting the volume from my bed.
Other then that it's a great item. Out of the box, takes about 3 minutes to set up, you plug it in and go. Comes with hand instructions that you don't even need. Plugged it into my Zune 5 minutes after opening and had it shaking my small cabinet it rests on seconds later.
Great device and I strongly recommend you buying it, I will probably buy more as gifts. Also, this is an easy enough device to take with you if you are going to a different house or friends house, a bit of wires you have to be careful of but still a great item.
Good Sound.....Short Volume CordJuly 21, 2008 Here is a copy of the support ticket I created and I did not receive a reply:
I bought your CS-MP77 speaker system and although it is a good sounding system, I am extremely disappointed in the volume control design. How did you intend for this system to be configured using any standard desk with such a short cord? The manual says to get 3.5mm extensions and the illustration shows that the connection could be made from the volume control unit but mine is hardwired. Now I will need to spend extra money for two different cords and the connections. The money I saved will now be spent on something that would have cost you .25 cents to manufacture. The only way this would work is if I placed the woofer on my desktop but who wants to hear their desk vibrating and thumping as they try to work.
Based on this design flaw and inconvenience, I will not purchase any more of your products in the future. If your intention was to save a few cents on the cord, was it worth losing a customer over it? I love the sound for the price I paid but when I took it out of the package and set it up, I thought that a complete idiot put this together.
I do not mean to be insulting, but that was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen come out of an electronics package.
