Outstanding Value for the $$$December 1, 2008 I LOVE my Kindle! With the Built-in Dictionary, WhisperNet Service and Wikipedia it's WAY more Bang-for-the-Buck than other e-readers.

What a neat little device! I am very impressed by the Kindle. It's about the size of one of those small yellow note pads. It's light weight, easy to use, charged really fast(and the charge lasts). The text is easy to read and getting books....I ordered books before my Kindle arrived and after I turned it on - there they were! I love my Kindle! The notebook case that comes with it drives me nuts. The Kindle tends to fall out when it's open. I went ahead and purchased a very well made "Red" notebook for it that I found on Amazon. Much better! For the price they should have included a nicer case for it.
I'm just loving it!
An Amazing DeviceDecember 1, 2008 I have watched this product for some time and was drawn to it because we travel extensively and the book bag has become too much to lug around. We saw the promotion on Oprah's TV program which offered a discount. We bought three for X-Mas presents.
The ability to download books from anywhere at anytime is amazing. The cost of the books is very reasonable and the delivery time unbelievable.
The one thing that I do not like about the Kindle is how terribly easy it is to accidentially advance the page from the right hand bar. It is a little difficult to handle the device sometimes without accidentially advancing the page. More of an annoyance than anything else.
I have had some issues with recharing the unit. After the charge light goes off and a second top off charge is complete, I've had the unit die on me saying that the battery was low. Anoither charge and then everything is okay. The battery does last a long while.
There a numerous features which make this a great buy: dictionary, highlighting and note ability to name a few.
I recommend this to any serious reader who likes to have a number of choices on reading material always available.
New Kindle OwnerDecember 1, 2008 I have only had my Kindle one month but am very pleased with it so far.
I checked into buying one earlier this year for travel but there were no books to download that pertained to my trip. I'm hoping more are available in the future.
I use mass transit for my commute every day and it is a treat to have something this small which will fit in my purse. I was even shopping one day in my favorite warehouse store and looking at the books as I always do and it dawned on me that all I had to do was pull out my Kindle and start ordering!
The only "constructive" criticisms/suggestions I can make are: 1. Some way to separate the read from the unread so that I don't have to scroll through everything on the home page or separate books, mags, etc. from the home page. 2. Convert location to page numbers regardless of font size. 3. It doesn't stay in the case very well. I have no suggestion for that because of the location of the Prev and Next bars.
As I said above, I am very pleased with my Kindle and look forward to many years of "lightweight" reading.
Kindle rocks!December 1, 2008 Easy to manage, easy to read from, no flipping pages or breaking spine to read inside seam, font choices are the best for young to old reader. Recommend this to anyone, any age! My kids are reading faster with the clear background and easy to read fonts.
