Good unitDecember 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this to replace a crappy unit I got at Target (VR3 Roadmaster). I wanted the HD and Aux in and this unit was a name brand and it was inexpensive. I have had no problems it and love the HD radio. I doubled the number of radio stations I can listen too. I can ever plug my non-ipod mp3 player into it.
Great!December 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great receiver. Hands down. I have had no problems with it. The HD does cut out every once in a while, but its because i live in an area that has many hills and trees. But its nothing to worry about. Dont buy the jvc ipod thing. Just buy the 3.5 aux chord and plug it into your ipod, that is if you dont mind the wire, i dont. And that guy that rated it a 1 star is an idiot. He probably broke it himself. Great price. I'm happy. I'm gonna buy one for my dad because its a great player. If you live in the Seattle area its a steal because there are so many HD stations including some AM.
Perfect HarmonyNovember 11, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This works in perfect harmony with a JVC KD-HDR1 receiver that has HD radio. The functions are simple, the sound quality is great and I have had no issues even though I installed it myself in the trunk of Mustang convertible.
Affordable and Excellent FeaturesNovember 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have JVC radios in my 3 cars. I really like their layout, displays and features, the buttons are not too small, they are large enough that they work for us, and you can turn the clock off if you want - our Corolla has a separate clock display, so we don't need it on the radio. The display is nice and colorful. I replaced a JVC analog stereo with the HDR30 in my wife's 2006 Toyota Corolla because I was looking for an HD Radio that also had the front Aux input to connect my GPS for road trips. The SD card on the GPS will play up to 1000 songs, so we really don't use the CD to play MP3s anymore. I have the KD-HDR1 in another car and really like the HD Radio and features. I researched other comparably priced HD Radios from Dual and others, but did not see the features I wanted, and (as another reviewer mentioned) something sticking out of the front of the radio in a USB slot is just waiting to get broken. I really like the JVC HDR-series automatically scrolling the song information without having to press buttons, and it keeps that setting so you don't have to change back to it every time you start the car. Also, the HD Radio sub-channels are nice to have when all the stations are playing commercials or other stuff we'd rather not listen to, and most (maybe all) are commercial free. I have not encountered the CD "clicking" problem, but downloaded and installed the update from the JVC site as another reviewer suggested.
I bought it from Barney's Electronics on Amazon, they had the best total price with shipping. I was a bit concerned that they would be slow in processing and shipping the order, but not to worry. They processed the order right away. I ordered the radio on Monday and UPS delivered it to me on Friday in Phoenix.
How did "lesbian" get suggested as a recommended tag for this product??
PerfectionOctober 30, 2008 This is a slick looking, classy head unit. Built in easy to use HD, with scrolling track names and all that. One-touch access to activate the Aux in port on the front, one touch to go back to radio/CD. Plays MP3s and WMAs properly off a CD, the knobs feel good, the interface is simple but fully featured. Has a separate subwoofer control menu accessible by the Sel button which adjusts the level of the subwoofer-out line -without- altering the bass mix. Very useful if you've got knock in the trunk, or plan to. The remote's cool, but I don't really need it in my tiny compact.
