best reader everNovember 23, 2008 I've tried e-books in the past with little success. The Kindle is amazing. It actually lets you get so into the book that you go to turn the pages and they are not there. Minor time with the placement of the page turn buttons and no more paper books for me. The ability to add notes, highlights, bookmarks, dictionary, web, audio books, mp3 music and when does it stop? Only Amazon's imagination will let it go wild with ideas. Does it sound like I am hooked? Just bought my wife one as well. We can actually share books with our virtual library. She's a reading teacher and is raving about it.
Wow, this is good.November 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For a constant reader this is just the greatest product. I never go anywhere without the Kindle with me. It is easy to use, easy to view (especially with the print being able to be enlarged) and compact and easy to carry. I love it. It could be improved by changing the "next page" and "previous page" configurations a bit. I recommend this to any reader.
Kindle unstableNovember 23, 2008 The software appears to be buggy. Frequent lockups that require me to remove the back and reboot using paper clip.
Also, need to shrink size of right side buttons. To many inadvertent page turns. Also missing a lot of classics. eg No Pearl S. Buck
Greatest thing in reading books since ?November 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been watching this product for nearly a year and wished that for the money I could have seen one. However, after watching Oprah on Oct 24 with Jeff Bezos, I purchased one that evening. I thought it was too good to be true and the Kindle has lived up to every one of my expectations. Not only am I am avid reader, a wannabe novelist and a gadget person, I am also into what's good for the environment. I was sold when I realized how many trees I will help to save over the years because of the Kindle. Some people are complaining about the money. But, for what you will save in hardback prices over the years, and if you get approved for an Amazon Store Card to pay for it over 90 days, there really is no excuse NOT to get one. Thank you Jeff Bezos and Amazon personnel for your effort to make my reading experience enjoyable and different.
I like KindleNovember 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I like Kindle very much. It is better then regular book on subway train. I spend more than two hours on subway train every work day. This is my main reading time. When stand in the crowed train reading Kindle, one hand is enough (when turn page for regular book, I need two hands). When it is too dark to read the regular book, I still can read Kindle. The Kindle is expensive. But it is not expensive compare with other kind of electronic devices. And the reading materials for Kindle are cheeper than regular books. I get reading material faster and easier than get regular books. I have space problem to hold my books, but no problem for Kindle. I have difficult to find out a book from hundreds of piled books in my room, but search any article on my Kindle is easy. The selection of reading materials for Kindle is very big. I hope there are some (or more) Chinese reading materials for Kindle.
