What digital cameras can be used with this Sony recorder?September 12, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Sony RDR-VX535 DVD Recorder & VCR Combo Player with 1080p HDMI Upscaling and Bonus HDMI Cable
A Kodak Easy Share Digital camera hooked up by the HDMI cable to the Sony was not recognized by this machine when i tried to download pictures from it to the Sony recorder to make a DVD copy of the photos in the Kodak camera.
Does anyone know what brand of still cameras WILL work with this Sony? I got help from the Sony representative on the phone, but he did not know which brands that Sony VX535 WOULD work. Like, does it have to be a SONY brand still camera?

Have had my unit for a few weeks not and it has exceeded all of my expectations. I'm a Sony fan anyway, and this is just more affirmation for me. This was the only such combo player I could find at an affordable price - apparently they aren't offered by most other companies.
Great if you don't want to back up protected mediaAugust 4, 2008 8 out of 12 found this review helpful
Picked up the unit, hooked it up in <3 minutes. Simple dub button right on the middle of the unit. Unit DOES NOT let you copy "protected material" Does decent job of "upscaling". HDMI cable included is a device connector NOT HDMI to RGB.

The 5.1 channel home-theater-in-a-box system features five tiny speakers - each about the size of a golf ball. The system, matched with a compact, single disc DVD/CD player/receiver, includes a unique subwoofer that helps the tiny speakers create sounds typically reserved for full size speakers.
While the system features small speakers, it packs all the power of conventional home theater-in-a-box systems with 450 watts of total system power (satellite speakers 50W x 5, plus 2-way subwoofer 100W x 2). The system is specially tuned to deliver a natural sound field that takes the focus off the subwoofer while supplementing mid range and lower frequencies.
