Product Description Share your hotel's broadband Internet connection wirelessly. The pocket-sized Wireless G Travel Router from Belkin lets you wirelessly share your hotel's broadband access, even if it is provided through a hardwired Ethernet connection. With this being the case with Internet access in most hotels and conference rooms, the Travel Router becomes an indispensable tool that gives you wireless freedom and flexibility. It seamlessly lets you share a broadband Internet connection and files with multiple computers, so you and your colleagues can be more productive on the road.Along with the flexibility to work better on the road, this solution gives you the peace of mind only advanced security features can provide. The Wireless G Travel Router supports Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) technology and 64-/128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption to protect your data from hackers and network intruders.Featuring 802.11g technology, network security, and multifunctional capabilities, the Travel Router offers you a wide working range - up to 300 feet - and greater interoperability in mixed networking environments. 802.11g technology is backward-compatible with the 802.11b Wi-Fi networking standard. The Travel Router can also be used as a wireless adapter or an access point. As an adapter, it adds wireless capabilities to a computer so you can use it to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots. In access point mode, the Travel Router expands the coverage area of an existing network.

Belkin false advertising, WPA security does not workNovember 28, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
WPA security can't be set on this router even though it's advertised by Belkin as supporting it. It seems to be a bug or firmware problem that Belkin is not fixing! The router doesn't reset with the WPA settings if you try to set it. Only WEP works which isn't secure.
Works well as an adaptorMarch 24, 2007 For some devices, such as PVRs, you need a wireless adaptor that works with an ethernet connection. This is great for that application.
I use one with a ReplayTV and am able to stream video to/from my PVR w/ no problems.
using as a primary router as we speakOctober 3, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
contrary to the intended design, I just wanted a cheap wireless router for home. I bought this and had it running within 20 minutes. The speed is nearly the same as my hardwire DSL connection, 1.5MBPS vs 1.3MPBS or so. I guess some sort of auxiliary internet port would be good for home use but if you live in an apartment or with roommates who all have laptops, like it seems like these days, I don't see any problem with this. It seems like it would work extremely well as a travel router too, the main unit is about the size of a PCMCIA card and it comes with a sturdy travel case.
more than a router - an adapter tooMarch 7, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't use this as a router. It also can be configured as what Belkin calls an "ethernet adapter" and Linksys a "bridge." Note that it costs less than the Belkin F5D7330 and other such products. I plugged it into the network port of a computer with no wireless capability (and no free slots), set it up, and now the computer is on my wireless network. Setup was easy with my web browser. It has been working fine for several weeks. Although I don't travel with it, I think the small size is a plus. I would have given it more stars if I had tested it in its other modes.
