my favorite season caused by some of the deepest emotional moments in the series historyNovember 21, 2008 I will keep this short. There have been times throughout the entire history of Doctor Who, when an episode will be emotionally charged, whether through the life of the character, or the Doctor. While they may be far and few between at times, in this season they come in spades. There is the infernal pleading of Donna for the Doctor to save just one life from the destruction of Pompeii, the incredible heartbreak that her grandfather seems to wear on his face like a death mask, as if he really knows what had happened before the end of Turn Left (even tough no one else does), when everything reverses course, and when the Doctor's daughter is shot and apparently killed. Then of course, one of the deepest cuts comes from the Library, where we meet an apparent highly emotional connection from the Doctor's future in the form of Riversong. Finally, at Journeys End, it appears all is lost, only to go through the vacuum of space time and come out the other end a little dustier, but still just as confounding as ever. Thus continues the enigma that is the Doctor.
"I'm Sorry, I'm SO Sorry,......"November 20, 2008 that David Tennant has stepped down after next year's periodic specials.
My family and I were vacationing in England and just happenned to turn on the telly when 'Stolen Earth' was being broadcast. Of course, it is a TBC story, and as we were leaving the UK before the week was out, we thought we would miss the second half- only to discover 'Journey's End' was broadcast the next night! I finally received this box set we were able to view the conclusion after five months of waiting.
All I can say about Tennant's Doctor is he is POSITIVELY BRILLIANT!!!!! I was a fan from the Tom Baker days, and after college pretty much forgot about the Doctor until this past July.
The difference in special effects, stories, casting and overall packaging of the show is the difference between the original Flash Gordon B/W films and Star Trek TNG- not to say the Who series suffered terribly from low budgets- the stories and the characters were what really caught you, wasn't it then?- but it was great to see modern CGI effects and a bigger budget for sets and music elevating the Doctor series to its present glorious heights.
Solid writing, great callbacks to earlier series, and just a wonderful exploration of the Doctor's character and his companions is outstanding- Only the Davros at heart can be disappointed!
Hands Down Best Season of Doctor Who!October 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Most wished Catherine Tate Stayed on after Runaway Bride; but alas she returns for the best written, consistently fresh stories of the series. Doctor Who over all 4 seasons have been the best in contemporary Science Fiction; Silence in the Library 2 parter and Midnight stand out as stellar in this series, as well as episodes Stolen Earth and Journey's end. Davros was extremely welcome and well done; Torchwood and Sarah Jane return also with Martha, Rose, Mickey and Jackie for an extra thrilling, fun and exciting 2/3 part final. Enjoy, thanks~
Brilliant!!!!!October 20, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
David Tennant Is Brilliant! The WHOLE show has me watching certain episodes more than 5 times! I've been a fan since the 70's when it got grat each time. Now, with all the special effects, bringing back Sarah Jane, K9!, and current chacters is just brilliant! Espicially in the last episode of this dvd, just OUTSTANDING!! I wish I could meet Russell T Davies and tell him what a great job he is doing! I wish I could be on the show! I love outer space, and these special effects are just fantastic, keep up this fantastic work!! I never thought I'd be this much into Dr. Who again since Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davidson and all the rest.....Mike

And what of us poor guys who live in third rate countries where the postal system isn't safe and/or run by thieves? The only safe way to buy items is choosing the option Priority International Courier (averages 2-6 days). But the total cost of placing and order thus becomes ridiculously expensive: For me in Mexico City: Shipping & Handling: $32.98 plus Import Fees Deposit $32.50 I'd be paying more of shipping and fees than the actual cost of the DVD box set and with this world crisis the mexican peso keeps devaluating in relation to the dollar (20 percent in a few days) Do you want us to download Doctor Who illegally from Internet? One wants to be legal but you don't leave us another option.

The 5.1 channel home-theater-in-a-box system features five tiny speakers - each about the size of a golf ball. The system, matched with a compact, single disc DVD/CD player/receiver, includes a unique subwoofer that helps the tiny speakers create sounds typically reserved for full size speakers.
While the system features small speakers, it packs all the power of conventional home theater-in-a-box systems with 450 watts of total system power (satellite speakers 50W x 5, plus 2-way subwoofer 100W x 2). The system is specially tuned to deliver a natural sound field that takes the focus off the subwoofer while supplementing mid range and lower frequencies.
