Product Description The new Samsung TL34HD is a powerful, sleek and compact digital camera featuring high-definition video capability. TL34HD boasts an impressive resolution of 14.7 megapixels and renowned Schneider lens yielding a 28mm wide-angle focal length with 3.6x optical zoom. The most advanced point and-shoot digital camera in Samsungs history, the TL34HD builds upon the success of its predecessor, the NV24HD, taking many of that cameras advanced features to a whole new level. Featuring an all-metal build, the TL34HD is pocket-sized but features a large, 3-inch touch-screen LCD screen that dominates the back of the camera and is sure to turn heads no matter where the TL34HD may be used. The TL34HD can also record video in 720p high-definition resolution, at a maximum frame rate of 30fps. Shooters can also take advantage of a movie stabilizer and optical zoom while recording video, as well as Samsungs Successive Recording mode, which allows the user to pause and then resume filming without having to save the clips as individual files. Additionally, the TL34HD utilizes H.264 compression, a codec for high-definition video that yields three times the recording length of MPEG4.
Another gem!January 9, 2009 This camera exceeds all thoughts I had when I read about. Simply put if you have a need for function, with not knowing an awful lot about cameras, then this is a perfect unit -- point and shoot with amazing quality.
- Video function is great and of course it burns memory, so if this is your purpose get a large memory card... 16GB is great.
- Zoom is amazing and detail is great. You certainly have your own version of CSI for details to zoom in on and refocus.
- The battery life can be a drag, but when we played, it was used constantly and often, we got a solid 3hrs of snapping before it went dead -- so if you use heavily another battery is in order.
- Touch screen is user friendly and makes life a dream.
Overall the only down size is the battery runs short with heavy use and the memory fills up quick too, plus the price can be a tad scary. But apart from that there is nothing to fault on this unit.
Beautiful!!!!
I like it.January 6, 2009 I bought this for my 73-year-old father who is somewhat technically proficient. It has a quick response time, which is great. He had a Nikon that was very slow - by the time the photo was snapped people had been posing for a long time and were moving or blinking. Hard to take good pictures of toddling grandkids; they don't stay put that long. This camera has more features than he probably needs or will make use of, but it works well and puts out a nice, crisp picture. The touch screen is big and easy to use. Big plus.
I love itJanuary 6, 2009 I bought this cam a month ago and the only thing i dont like is where is the flash, cuz dont let u grab the camera the way u are used to. But is a great camera. 14MP is great and the videos are great specially in High definition.
Poor Picture Quality & operation difficultyJanuary 6, 2009 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Got this camera for my wife as a combo picture/video piece for Xmas. I have purchased Samsung tv's & disc player and thought their quality VG. So I thought this would be the same. The TH34HD camera however was a disappointment. The touch screen was difficult to work and it kept popping up for things you didn't want to do. Also the design is wanting. The shutter is in a difficult position to snap a picture (left of the mode selector) and me & my wife kept pushing the mode selector. Also you have to readjust how you hold the camera when shooting a picture as the flash mechanism is a pop-up positioned on the top left side of camera a place where most people hold the camera with their left index finger. For being 14.7 megapixals the picture quality was only OK. Finally, the operating manual was a CD and everytime you wanted to refer to it you have to go on the computer. There should have been a printed manual. Because of this my wife decided to return it and look for a different camera.
WOW!!!December 25, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This has got to be one of the most underrated cameras around. Samsung has done a superb job of designing and building this little beast. It has many, MANY features that are fun and easy to use. The lighting on the automatic mode is very accurate, the HD video capture is excellent, and the all manual mode is an overall good experience. The one thing that IS lacking is the lack of a panorama assist function, but that's the only flaw I can find. Overall, this is the best semi-point-and-shoot camera I've ever owned!
