Product Description Awarded the #1 Joystick in Multimedia World's Readers' Choice Awards, the FlightStick looks and feels just like a real jet stick, built with potentiometers rated to 2 million cycles, sturdy base and fire buttons rated to 10 million shots; when you grab on, you'll feel the difference of CH's quality craftsmanship and durability.
very precise and durableNovember 21, 2008 It's everything you expect from a CH product. Its amazingly precise and built like a tank. The Fighterstick USB is one of those products that helps you achieve a higher level of play. Be warned though that this stick is definitely made for larger hands. My hand dimensions are as follows: 7 3/4" from end of middle finger to wrist. 3 1/2" wide across the palm. Thumb length is 2 3/4". I can reach everything without too much trouble, but the top (8-way) hat switch and the top button is a bit of a stretch. This joystick could have benefited from an adjustable hand-rest like those found on the Saitek sticks. I still give this product 5 stars because it works flawlessly, has never lost calibration, its durable, and its the most technically precise joystick I've ever used.
Best joystick everOctober 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Probably the best joystick ever made. It cannot be compared to other joysticks that wear out or snap in half in 3 weeks. Don't bother with Logitech or Microsoft. Gravis used to be good. If you can get a Blackhawk digital, I recommend it. Nothing beats the Fighterstick though.
It has more buttons than you can even think to use. It has a heavy base so you can set it on your desk and have one hand free, instead of cheaper joysticks where you have to actively hold down the base to keep the thing from doing a flip.
I cannot stress how well it's built. This joystick will last through a nuclear explosion. If you want to get a 10 year old a joystick for a game he won't like in 2 months anyway, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a performance piece of equipment that will probably outlast you, get the CH Fighterstick.
I do have a few grips: 1. It's BIG. It would stand to be a bit smaller. I find myself having to stretch out my thumb or finger sometimes. It's manageable though. I would say I have medium sized hands. 2. There is barely any spring in the base. It's very easy to turn, almost too easy. Not sure if there's a force feedback option with more resistance, but I personally like a joystick that takes a bit more effort to turn.
That's it! Hands down the best joystick made.
Great Joystick!!!!!!August 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This the Best joystick I've ever owned.I've had a lot of different ones over the years. The best one I had befor this was the Thrustmaster ones that I still do use.The main difference between the Thrustmaster ones is that they have a very very hard spring ,that even tho is very strongly build can make anyones hands and arm get very tired and sore after any long use plus you need to strap down the base otherwize the spring tenson is so strong that to pull the stick in any direction just lifts the whole base and unit right off the desk. The CH Products Fighterstick is a pleasure to use. It's very well built, has tons of fully programable buttons and the Biggest suprize that I got once I placed the unit on my desk was that the spring tenson was so smooth and light that I can quickly throw the stick in any direction with no pull of the base at all!!!! Wow!! This is Great!!!You would have to realy push the stick to the very extream limits of it's movement to cause the base to lift.If you do that sort of thing just use a little double sided tape to place a small square of Velcro to both the base and desk to hold back even this extream movement. It's a big joystick, I have large hands and it's still seems a bit big but I feel totally comfortable useing it for long perionds of time with no hand or arm soreness.Overall a high quility and very enjoyable joystick to use.
Non plus ultraJuly 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In more than twenty years of flight simming I've been happy with only two joysticks. One was the indestructable WICO bat-handle from the 1980's. This is the other one. I've used these exclusively for more than ten years with no problems. They are extremely steady, well-balanced, and tough as nails. They aren't temperamental and they don't break. Well worth the money.
Excellent stickJuly 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've owned this stick for a few years now, and its been nothing but fantastic. The mechanics and buttons are extremely reliable and provide good tactile feedback. The movement is consistent, and over the years the stick hasn't lost a bit of its precise feel and reliability. The stick feels quite sturdy when used, though it can sometime move a little around the desk if the rubber feet aren't clean.
The movement of the stick takes a little getting used to, as it has a tendency to 'stick' when crossing the X or Y axis. I believe this is due to the way its constructed, and once you get used to it its hardly noticable. In fact, it makes it easier to make movements of the stick directly along the X or Y axis without having to worry about drifting to either side.
The software is excellent and provides a wealth of customizability. A full scripting language is provided as well as simple keyboard and mouse emulation (with enough buttons to make it worth while).
There are replacement parts (though I've never needed any) available from the manufacturer on their webpage which provides a nice feeling of security should anything eventually go wrong.
On the down side, the stick may be a little large for some hands (I sometimes have difficulty reaching the secondary fire button with my thumb without shifting my hand on the stick) and it lacks any kind of rudder control (which means you'll probably have to purchase some extra peripheral to provide rudder, I use the CH pedals which I would highly recommend as well).
This stick is hands-down the best joystick I've ever owned.
