Wider screen lets you see more of what's around. Compare these actual size views of a 3-inch (diagonal) screen
and a 4.3-inch diagonal widescreen
Widescreen -- See Better, See More The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.
FM Transmitter -- Hear Better, Hear More Instead of straining your ears to hear turn-by-turn directions or your favorite MP3s, you can enjoy wireless FM audio transmission via the nüvi 660's wireless FM transmitter. Tune your car's radio to the appropriate station and you'll hear all the nüvi's audio, including voice prompts, MP3s, audio books, and more, directly through your vehicle's stereo system. The nüvi 660 includes many "must-have" entertainment and travel tools, including digital music and audio book playback, JPEG picture viewer, currency converters, and more. All these great features make the nüvi 660 a complete Personal Travel Assistant.
First Rate Map Data The nüvi 660 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps, including a hefty POI database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping.
In addition, the nüvi 660 accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs
Important note about map updates: Due to our high volume of sales, almost every Garmin portable GPS navigator sold by Amazon.com will come with the most recent map version. If you ever do need a map update, you can purchase one from Amazon.com at our Garmin Store. Hands-Free Calling In more and more places, it is becoming illegal to use cell phones while driving without a hands-free kit. The nüvi 660's Bluetooth capability, microphone and speaker lets match it to any bluetooth-capable phone to make hands-free mobile phone calls. Simply dial the phone number with the nüvi's touch screen keypad to make a call on a compatible phone. To answer an incoming call, just tap the screen and speak into the built-in microphone. Making and taking calls on the road has never been easier, or safer. In addition, Garmin makes it a breeze to look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or even tap into your cell phone's call history log.
Integrated FM Traffic Receiver
Steer clear of traffic with an integrated FM traffic receiver designed to receive alerts from TMC Clear Channel about traffic tie-ups and road construction that might lie ahead on your route. All you have to do is simply touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour around any problem area. And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour that is not relayed through the traffic receiver, the nüvi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time.
In most areas, TMC Clear Channel traffic broadcasts are continuous there's no waiting for scheduled traffic news updates or random alerts. Because traffic broadcasts are received via a "silent" FM data channel, you can still listen to music or news programming on your car radio without interference from incoming FM traffic data transmissions.
A 3-month subscription to TMC Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network is included with purchase of this device. For more information on subscription fees, coverage in individual cities, and traffic data networks in the United Kingdom and Europe, check the Garmin website.
Easy To Use Interface Garmin's interface is a key to their success and one of the things that makes their devices such a pleasure to use. Simple controls and sub-screens make it easy to enter or search for destinations and get data about your trip.

660 is great but i could have been fine with a 360August 19, 2008 I was heavily deciding between the 660 and 360. I decided to go for the 660 because of the bigger screen (bigger is better), FM transmitter and traffic. I thought the $75 difference was cheap enough for the added features. FM transmitter is $150 more if you buy separately for the 360. While the basic features work great, text-to-speech, ease of use, the FM transmitter is a disappointment. I live in the Bay Area and couldn't get any decent signal without any interference. A 3.5mm headphone jack with cassette adapter works a lot better but every time i use this it pains me because one of the reason i bought 660 was for me to direct the audio to my speakers. The headphone/cassette jack will work no problem with the 360 if you want this feature.
The traffic feature i haven't used too much but when approaching a route with traffic building up a small icon comes up and shows how many minutes of delay it would take, you then have the option to get a detour if you want. Cool feature but i don't see any much use to it unless maybe i'm in area i'm not too familiar with. But it's a feature i can have if i needed to.
I uploaded the 2009 maps thinking it already showed the new ramps and roads constructed near our place, i tested it with my officemates on board and it led us to a dead-end. It was embarrassing, it kept telling turn left when there is no road and kept recalculating. But with all this gps stuff, i learned that you must not depend too much on it and use some common sense as well.
Other than that one funny incident it guided me through places with ease when before could have got me tense and depended on printed mapquest directions on hand. I like that i know when is the next turn and the distances. Overall, the Nuvi 660 is a very nice and useful gps but if you're in a budget and want to have bluetooth, get the 360.
A great help on the road!August 18, 2008 What a great GPS! It works great in the city helping us get quickly to a new restaurant. We used it to help us get to several remote locations in the Northwest. When we got lost, it quickly recalculated and got us back on track. The features we used worked as expected. In defense of Garmin: Acquiring satellites in the city took about 2 minutes when the surrounding buildings were tall and about 30 seconds when they were not. In the country, it took under 30 seconds. To those who criticize the satellite acquisition, I say, "Remember what you were doing at the time and reset your expectations to reality." To pick some nits with Garmin: 1) Hey guys, include the automobile adapter in your base package. We shouldn't have to fork over an extra $25-30 to get it. 2) How about providing additional voices -- like Darth Vader or George Bush or Bill Clinton or Captain Jack Sparrow or Batman -- free as downloads or as part of the delivered package? 3) Like other GPS devices, the system sometimes calls out a route segment by its street name instead of the route number. This was no problem once we figured out what was happening.
How did I survive without it?August 18, 2008 LOVE IT! Precise directions & blue tooth capable makes it fun to use. Large screen is also a plus. I'm from California. My husband & I used it when we drove to Arizona. It was fab. Didn't have to ask anyone how to get around. Good feeling to be able to get to anywhere you need.
very satisfiedAugust 18, 2008 I have seen other GPS systems and I really like the Garmin 660 the best. Very user friendly. I would definetly recommend this to any one looking for a GPS system
Didn't know I would love it so much!August 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After consulting Consumer Reports, which listed this as a best buy item, I bought this GPS for my husband's birthday. Since I am slightly (ok, greatly) "technology-challenged" I imagined I'd never use it, but would leave it to the husband to figure out. On the way out to run errands one day I took it along just for kicks. I was blown away at how easy it was to figure out and use. While I am not familiar with all the extras it has to offer (what is Bluetooth, anyway?!), the rest was so simply laid out it would be hard to NOT understand how to use it.
We have only lived in this state for 3 months and it has been a godsend in getting us to and from places we've never been. If it had not been for this GPS I still would not have returned home from dropping my husband off at the airport last week. The roads here are windy and plentiful but Jane (as we call our english-accented speaker) easily directed me home. I LOVE this thing and can't believe we didn't get one earlier with all the travelling we do!

The 5.1 channel home-theater-in-a-box system features five tiny speakers - each about the size of a golf ball. The system, matched with a compact, single disc DVD/CD player/receiver, includes a unique subwoofer that helps the tiny speakers create sounds typically reserved for full size speakers.
While the system features small speakers, it packs all the power of conventional home theater-in-a-box systems with 450 watts of total system power (satellite speakers 50W x 5, plus 2-way subwoofer 100W x 2). The system is specially tuned to deliver a natural sound field that takes the focus off the subwoofer while supplementing mid range and lower frequencies.
